Rochette’s photoessay, Backyards, explores the function and form of the backyard in Canada. What constitutes a backyard? Weeds, dandelions, grub-eaten lawns, pools, balls, bikes, trampolines, barbecues—all these things, even vegetable and flower gardens, can be part of the Canadian backyard landscape. Backyards are places where family and friends play, relax, socialize, and celebrate. The summer is short, so call some friends, grab some cold drinks and head outside!
