Artist statements are an integral part of the life of a practicing artist, used in everything from grant applications to websites. This 3-hour workshop will assist artists in presenting their work in words. Participants will be encouraged towards writing unique statements that summarize their individual artistic practices while learning how to situate their work within a wider artistic framework. Various published artist statements will be provided as points of departure, alongside tip sheets and resources on effective writing techniques with an emphasis on methods for writing about an artist’s own work. Artists practicing in any medium may attend.
