Moises Saman was born in Lima, Peru and studied communications and sociology at California State University. In 2000, he joined Newsday as a staff photographer, covering the fallout of the 9/11 attacks while traveling between Afghanistan, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern countries. In 2007 Moises began to freelance under representation by Panos Pictures, contributing regularly to the New York Times, Newsweek, and Time magazine, among other international publications. Moises has received awards from the World Press Photo contest, and the Overseas Press Club, and his photographs have been shown in several exhibitions worldwide. Moises joined Magnum Photos in 2010. He lives between Cairo and New York City.
