In Exile, Krilic explores the constructions and negotiations of home and belonging. Being in exile means to continually search for continuity and coherence. This elusive search is a perpetual “becoming” rather than simply “being.” Drawing on a personal struggle with feeling at home, Krilic appropriates the space of exile and attempts to trace the transformation of chaos into order. Each time the artist begins to feel at home, the unsettling force of exile erupts anew.
