Frame by Frame 84 MINUTES | 2015 | USA | DARI ENGLISH (SUBTITLES) | INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE Dir. Mo Scarpelli & Alexandria Bombach

In 1996, the Taliban banned and criminalized photography in Afghanistan. After the US invasion, photographers took back the streets, creating a thriving media revolution in the process. With never-before-seen footage, directors Alexandria Bombach and Mo Scarpelli follow important and internationally renowned Afghan photojournalists Najibullah Musafer, Wakil Kohsar, Farzana Wahidy and Pulitzer Prize–winner Massoud Hossaini. With much of the international media gone, these Afghan photographers are left alone to navigate a dangerous and unpredictable landscape. As they aspire to reclaim their country’s identity lost through decades of war and oppression, Frame By Frame gives voice to urgent stories of truth through an Afghan perspective. Heather Haynes.
